§ Mr. BishopStatistics concerning intervention operations are kept by the EEC Commission and not by my Department. I understand that total stocks of beef in intervention stores in mid-November were about 234,000 metric tons. The export of beef, whether bought from intervention stocks or direct from the market, is carried out by private traders through normal commercial transactions and details of these are not available.
