HC Deb 04 December 1974 vol 882 cc498-9W
Mrs. Winifred Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what consultations he has had with the EEC Commission about proposed research studies of the industrial situation of the Central Belt of Scotland.

Mr. William Ross

I have been asked to reply.

My Department maintains close contact with the European Economic Commission on possible research projects for joint financing, both under the provisions of the European Coal and Steel Community Treaty and from the EEC budget provision for studies into general regional problems.

One such study relating to the industrial situation in West-Central Scotland is already under way with 50 per cent. financial assistance from ECSC funds. This is the Cambuslang feasibility study, about which I have given information in response to a separate Question from the hon. Member.
