HC Deb 04 December 1974 vol 882 c537W
Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether the likely effect of the Houghton Report on teachers' salaries has been taken into account in the figures of rate support grant for 1975–76 announced by the Minister on 26th November.

Mr. John Silkin

In deciding on a much larger grant percentage for 1975–76 account was taken of the nature of the impending teachers' award. Moreover, when the amounts are known they will qualify for Exchequer assistance in the normal way through any increase orders.
