asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will take into consideration the environmental effects of any decision to increase the present 32 tons gross weight for heavy road haulage vehicles and to allow heavier axle loadings;

(2) if he has any plans to increase the present 32 tons gross weight for heavy road haulage vehicles and to allow heavier axle loadings; and if he will make a statement.

My right hon. Friend has no plans at present to increase the maximum gross weights or axle loadings of heavy goods vehicles.
