HC Deb 04 December 1974 vol 882 cc474-5W
Mr. Younger

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many candidates in the General Election failed to submit election expenses accounts by the appropriate date; how many of them were from each political party; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. William Ross

A return of expenses of each candidate is customarily published after a General Election in response to an Address of the House of Commons —on this occasion moved on 7th November—in pursuance of which my Department will be obtaining information from returning officers in due course. The expense of obtaining the specific information requested, necessitating a special return from returning officers, would not be justified.
