§ Mr. Albert Robertsasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will issue advice to the general public concerning the hoarding of food; and if she will make a statement.
Mr. Alan WilliamsI deprecate the practice of hoarding which runs the risk of making it appear that there is a shortage when no genuine shortage exists. This can then lead to panic buying and gaps on the shelves, causing real hardship for those on lower incomes. I am sure that most people will recognise that hoarding is unnecessary and disruptive.
