§ Mr. KaufmanNo. The new system of house renovation grants under the Housing Act 1974 will enable local authorities to accept rewiring, for improvement grant and intermediate grant purposes, when associated with work of improvement, and, in limited circumstances, to accept such work on its own for a repairs grant. But my right hon. Friend does not consider it appropriate to seek to amend the law to make grant more widely available for this purpose.
