HC Deb 04 December 1974 vol 882 cc479-80W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied with existing regulations governing the conditions under which rare animals are transported into Great Britain.

Mr. Strang

I am satisfied that the Transit of Animals (General) Order 1973 provides adequate protection for animals once they come under our jurisdiction, but we have no direct control over the conditions under which they are loaded in foreign ports or airports.
