§ Mr. Rostasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will specify the financial and technical assistance his Department is providing in support of research on solar energy; whether he will make a statement on the progress of this research; and when he expects to publish any conclusions.
§ Mr. PrenticeSeveral research projects relevant to the use of solar energy, are supported by the research councils, including the development of an "autonomous" house. The research is at an early stage and it is too soon to say when any conclusions can be published. I am sending the hon. Member a recent report of the Energy Research Committee of the Advisory Board for the Research Councils, which includes reference to the contribution of the councils to research on solar energy.
