HC Deb 02 December 1974 vol 882 c340W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the guidelines used by the Government in their decision to pay Lord Diamond £16,350 a year for chairing the Royal Commission on the Distribution of Income and Wealth; and how this affects the social contract.

Mr. Booth

The rate of remuneration for the Chairman of the Royal Commission on the Distribution of Income and Wealth was decided on the basis of comparability with that paid to those holding similar appointments, and this in no way affects the social contract.
