§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what financial and other contributions he intends to make to support International Women's Year.
§ Mr. PrenticeMy right hon. Friend the Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs indicated on 20th and 27th November that the Government have invited the Women's National Commission to co-ordinate the United King-340W dom's activities to mark International Women's Year and has agreed to make a grant of £10,000 to the commission for this purpose. I have no plans for the provision of separate financial assistance.
Much of the responsibility for the kind of educational activity the United Nations wants falls in this country to the local education authorities, and the Department is considering how best their attention might be drawn to the year.
