Health authorities have been given permission to plan to increase the number of consultant general psychiatrists by 33 in 376W 1974–75 and another 40 have been requested for 1975–76. Some of these may be expected to contribute to the forensic psychiatric services.
I share the Committee on Mentally Abnormal Offenders' hope that the establishment of regional security units will provide a further impetus for the development of this work.
