§ Mr. O'Halloranasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will raise in the London Housing Action Group the progress made by the Greater London Council in the development of the Elthorne Road, London, N.I9, housing development; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. KaufmanThe slow progress on this site illustrates the problem of speeding up housing redevelopment in London. My hon. Friend the Minister for Housing and Construction has recently written to London authorities drawing their attention to this and urging them to take steps to improve the position, and the action group is about to begin an investigation of the whole process of development or redevelopment, to identify where the delays occur. In this particular384W case the GLC expects to let stage 2 of the scheme—667 dwellings—shortly, and plans to let stage 3 of the scheme—315 dwellings—by the end of 1976. My hon. Friend is asking the authority to consider bringing forward this latter phase to an earlier date.
