asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has yet decided the commencement date for the Haslingden bypass; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Carmichael

As the Haslingden bypass was included in the trunk road preparation pool only in November 1973, it is too early to give a definite date for a start of works.
