§ Mr. Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations or 389W proposals he has had from the Renfrew-shire education authority in connection with the problem of children of school age who are receiving no educational instruction; and what proposals have been made for the provision of special accommodation.
§ Mr. William RossI have had no representations from Renfrewshire education authority in connection with this problem. I understand, however, that the previous administration received representations that a national working party should be set up to look into the sanctions available to head teachers to prevent the education of the great majority of pupils being disrupted by a very few pupils who will not conform to the normal rules of the school. This question and the question of exclusion and alternative provision for such pupils will be examined by the committee of inquiry into truancy and indiscipline in schools which I am at present setting up.
