§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Trade what were the imports into the United Kingdom by volume and value in 1972 and 1973 of manganese, nickel, chrome and copper.
§ Mr. DeakinsDetails are published partly in Table III and partly in Table IV of the appropriate December issues of the Overseas Trade Statistics, except for the following items:
take to safeguard the British film industry;
(2) what is his policy towards establishing a National Film Fund subsidised from the Eady Fund;
(3) what is his policy towards establishing a Goverment subsidy for non-profit-making film companies or films made for the public good and of high quality;
(4) what is his policy towards establishing a publicly-owned film circuit in competition with the existing distributors;
(5) what is his policy towards establishing outlets for films appealing to minority audiences; and which groups are to be catered for.
§ Mr. DeakinsI shall shortly be receiving the final report of the Cinematograph Films Council about these and other questions concerning the prospects of the industry. I shall then consult my hon. Friend the Member for Putney (Mr. Jenkins), Under-Secretary of State for Education and Science—the Minister for the Arts—as well as the other interests concerned.
