HC Deb 29 April 1974 vol 872 c382W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when the next payment to the EEC budget is due; and what amount will have to be paid.

Mr. Joel Barnett

The next payment to the EEC budget is due to be paid by 15th May; notification of the amount by the Commission has still to be received.

Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what further amounts will fall due for payment to the EEC budget during the rest of the current financial year.

Mr. Joel Barnett

During the rest of this financial year, member States, including the United Kingdom, will be making monthly payments to the Commission, in proportion to their budget shares, to cover the Commission's estimates of the cash required in the following month to meet expenditure provided for in the Community budget. It was estimated in the Public Expenditure White Paper, Cmnd. 5519, that the United Kingdom's gross contributions to the Community budget during 1974–75 would amount to £210 million, and receipts would be £120 million, giving a net figure for contributions in 1974–75 of £90 million.
