HC Deb 29 April 1974 vol 872 cc375-6W
Mr. Brocklebank-Fowler

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he has decided whether any of the 72 unoccupied houses at Bircham Newton are surplus to requirements; and, if so, if he will make a statement on his plans for their disposal.

Mr. John

A firm decision on the deployment of Royal Air Force units in East Anglia, on which our need to retain the Service married quarters at Bircham Newton depends, must await the outcome of the current defence review. I regret, therefore, that I am not yet able to say whether any of them can be declared surplus to Service requirements.
