Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, (1) of the total resources allocated by central Government for rate support grant, what has been the Scottish share in each of the past 10 years;

(2) if he will publish figures showing the value of rate support grant for each of the past five years, at 1969 prices; and if he will indicate how this compares with the rate support grant for England and Wales, using the same base, for the same period.

Rate support grants were introduced in 1967. Following are the aggregate amounts of rate support grants prescribed in the relevant main orders. The figures cannot readily be given at 1969 prices.
