Mr. Greville Janner

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many parking offences have been committed by members of the diplomatic missions of foreign and Commonwealth countries in respect of which diplomatic immunity has been claimed during the last two six-month periods for which records are available; and what is the total sum of the fines which have not been paid during those periods because of such diplomatic immunity.

The total numbers of fixed penalty notices cancelled on grounds of diplomatic immunity during the last two periods of six months were as follows:—

>Six months ended 30th September 1973 26,903
Six months ended 31st March 1974 24,185

The total amounts which would have been payable in respect of the cancelled notices were £53,806 and £48,370 respectively.
