27. Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the siting of a research drilling centre in Scotland.

Mr. Millan

As I announced during the debate on offshore oil on 2nd April, the Petroleum Industry Training Board and the industry are agreed that the centre for drilling technology should be located in Scotland. The board is expected to submit its plans to the Manpower Services Commission shortly.
