§ Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Secretary of State for Defence how much of the £89 million a year spent on fuel oil for the Armed Forces is included in the £331 million a year military expenditure overseas.
§ Mr. William Rodgers£89 million is the provision for all oil products published in Defence Estimates for 1974–75 (HC Paper 13) and £331 million is the figure published in the Statement on the Defence Estimates 1973 (Cmnd 5231) for the forecast initial incidence on the balance of payments in 1973–74 of Government invisible transactions in the defence field. As my hon. Friend will appreciate, the comparison he has in mind is not therefore possible.
