HC Deb 10 April 1974 vol 872 c181W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she is satisfied that the reorganised National Health Service will be able to ensure that adequate and acceptable contraceptive facilities are available and easily accessible.

Dr. Owen

I would refer the hon. Member to my right hon. Friend's speech during the debate on the Budget Resolutions and Economic Situation on 28th March.—[Vol 871, c. 652–7.]

Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will list those contraceptive devices available to men under the proposed National Health Service scheme which will take effect after April 1974.

Dr. Owen

The only male contraceptive device available at present is the sheath, and this will be available at National Health Service clinics and hospitals free of charge, but only where this is the method prescribed after consultation.
