HC Deb 09 April 1974 vol 872 c93W
40. Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she has completed her review of the categories of entitlement to exemption from prescription charges, with particular reference to raising the young persons' age limit to 16 and exempting all persons undergoing full-time education; and if she will make a statement.

Dr. Owen

As my right hon. Friend announced in the debate on the Budget on 28th March—[Vol. 871, c. 650–1.]—with effect from 8th April exemption for children is to be raised from under 15 to under 16 years of age; and the age limit for women lowered from 65 years and over to 60 and over, and this is as far as we can go in this field at present.
