HC Deb 09 April 1974 vol 872 c109W
Miss Quennell

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether his attention has been drawn to the fall in milk production over the past five successive months; and what long-term steps he is taking to protect supplies.

Mr. Buchan

Sales of milk off farms since September 1973 have been running at a lower level than in the same period last year. Following the 1974 annual review, the previous administration announced increases in the guaranteed price and standard quantity in February this year. We shall be better able to assess the effect of these changes on future supply prospects later in the year.
