HC Deb 09 April 1974 vol 872 c124W
Mr. Lee

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the total par value of equity holdings of all local authorities now constituted, and the estimated current market value.

Mr. John Silkin

Local government superannuation funds, which are administered by local authorities, held investments in the ordinary shares of companies to a market value of £888 million at 31st March 1973. Information about the investment of local authorities' own funds, about the par value of investments or relating to a later date is not available.
