HC Deb 08 April 1974 vol 872 c10W
42. Sir John Hall

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he intends to introduce legislation to ensure that all recoverable waste is recycled for industrial use.

Mr. Meacher

The Government recognise the importance of securing the maximum economic recovery of waste materials and are considering how to improve the co-ordination of activities in this field.

44. Sir David Renton

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will make a statement on his consideration of legislation to increase the recovery of waste paper.

Mr. Meacher

I am aware of the concern felt in some sectors of the paper industry because of the current high demand for waste paper, and my officials are in close touch with both users and collectors. I am not, however, considering any specific legislation to increase recovery at present.
