HC Deb 08 April 1974 vol 872 c5W
Mr. Peter Rees

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will introduce legislation to implement the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The United Kingdom has signed the 1973 convention and expects to ratify it as soon as practicable. Application of the convention's provisions poses a number of problems to which my Department is currently seeking solutions with the shipping industry and other interests concerned. The introduction of legislation to implement the convention will be considered in due course.
