HC Deb 08 April 1974 vol 872 cc74-5W
Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make recommendations designed to ensure that registration officers will have sufficient official forms for postal and proxy voting at the next General Election.

Mr. William Ross

I am informed that Her Majesty's Stationery Office had an ample stock of these application forms for the recent General Election and maintains an adequate supply. The ordering of supplies for local needs is a responsibility of electoral registration officers, based on their experience and assessment of likely demand. I am satisfied that, allowing for occasional unpredictability in demand, this duty is competently carried out. Should a temporary shortage of supplies occur locally there is no objection to copies of the official form being reproduced.
