§ Mr. Corrieasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will take urgent steps to control offensive and pornographic material in the United Kingdom and seek powers to increase the penalties for offenders and for importers of this type of material.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsThere are already comprehensive provisions for the control of obscene matter. These include power to impose unlimited fines and imprisonment for up to three years and to order any material found obscene to be forfeited. The enforcement of these provisions is a matter for the police. I have no plans at present for making any changes in the law.
