HC Deb 05 April 1974 vol 871 c449W
Mr. Silvester

asked the Attorney-General whether the Director of Public Prosecutions employs special criteria in deciding to prosecute a person for perjury on the basis of his own evidence in answer to a criminal charge to which he has unsuccessfully pleaded not guilty, if that person is a policeman; and if he will make a statement regarding his policy for the future.

The Attorney-General

In the circumstances mentioned the Director of Public Prosecutions makes no distinction between a police officer and any other person. That policy will continue. Each case is dealt with entirely on its own merits.
