HC Deb 04 April 1974 vol 871 c430W
53. Mr. James Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress has been made at the International Court of Justice at The Hague regarding the dispute with Iceland over the extension of fisheries limits to 50 miles.

Mr. Hattersley

My right hon. and learned Friend the Attorney-General presented our case to the court on 25th March. A further hearing was held on 29th March, during which counsel for the United Kingdom gave replies to questions put by the court. A written answer to one further question was handed to the court on 2nd April. The court reserved its judgment to a date to be announced.

Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the progress of the current hearing at the International Court of Justice at The Hague concerning the dispute over Icelandic fisheries limits.

Mr. Hattersley

I have nothing to add to the reply I gave earlier today to my hon. Friend the Member for Kingston upon Hull, West (Mr. Johnson).
