HC Deb 04 April 1974 vol 871 cc421-2W
Mr. Boyden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will give loan sanction to the Durham County Council for the Bishop Auckland health centre for the 1974–75 building programme.

Dr. Owen

Responsibility for financing health centres was transferred on 1st April from local authorities to the new health authorities, so loan sanction arrangements are no longer applicable.

In order to provide continuity in the health centre programme my Department has provisionally selected schemes which it is hoped to start in 1974–75, and special capital allocations will be made to cover the estimated cost of those schemes finally authorised. Bishop Auckland is a provisionally selected scheme.
