§ Mr. William RossThe policy of the Government is to give such financial assistance as will maintain a modern and efficient fishing fleet. There will be early discussions with the industry on the removal of the moratorium on grants and loans which was introduced by the previous administration.
§ Mr. Grimondasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what applications by number and value for grants for fishing boats have been submitted to the EEC.

§ Mr. William RossApplications in respect of 12 fishing vessels valued at £1.9 million were submitted by the United Kingdom for grant under the FEOGA individual projects scheme for 1973. Applications for 12 vessels valued at £2.8 million have been submitted so far under the 1974 scheme. Ten and nine respectively, each valued at £1.6 million, are from Scotland.
