HC Deb 02 April 1974 vol 871 cc306-7W
Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) if he will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT the schemes for new and also for substantial improvements to primary schools in Leicestershire due to start in 1974 and in 1975;

(2) if he will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT the schemes for new and also for substantial improvements to secondary schools in Leicestershire due to start in 1974 and in 1975.

Mr. Armstrong

The school building programmes are being reviewed by my right hon. Friend. I regret that it is not possible to comment meanwhile on the position of individual authorities or of individual projects.

Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many primary schools in Leicestershire at the latest available date were wholly or partially constructed before 1900; and what was the same figure for 1970.

Mr. Armstrong

The information is available only for primary schools built before 1903. In the present Leicestershire authority area there are 128 such schools; in 1970 there were 134.
