HC Deb 01 April 1974 vol 871 cc293-4W
Mr. Woodhouse

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many disabled drivers are at present using the P70 invalid tricycle as tested by Motor Industry Research Association on 17th August 1973; and how many are using the same model as modified for the test on 24th September 1973;

(2) what modifications were made to the P70 invalid tricycle between the Motor Industry Research Association test on 17th August 1973 and the test on 24th September 1973.

Mr. Alfred Morris

The hon. Member will now have had the opportunity to see the reports prepared by MIRA on the tests referred to. The vehicle tested in September 1973 was not designed as a production prototype and it is not in-

but the number of retirement pensioners in England and Wales at November 1973 was as follows:

tended to build any identical ones for use. The main differences between it and the one tested in August were the positioning of the battery and fuel tank and some elements in the construction of the chassis, bulkhead and body.

As is usual in the motor industry, numerous modifications to vehicles are progressively introduced and it is therefore not possible to say from readily available information how many people are using a vehicle identical to that tested in August.
