§ Mr. Arthur Davidsonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is satisfied with the workings of Section 59 of the Local Government Act 1933.
§ Mr. John SilkinI assume my hon. Friend has Section 59(1)(a) particularly in mind. The matters dealt with in this provision are now being considered by the Committee on Local Government Rules of Conduct under the chairmanship of Lord Redcliffe-Maud. The committee hopes to report at about the end of April and the further consideration of this subject can best be pursued in the light of any proposals it may make.
