§ Mr. Jesselasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the 50 per cent. increase in advance corporation tax, as announced in the Budget Statement, is to apply retrospectively in relation to dividends paid by companies between January and March 1974.
§ Dr. GilbertThe additional payment announced in my right hon. Friend's Budget Statement will arise on the advance corporation tax becoming due from companies in the financial year 1974 which begins today, including advance corporation tax in respect of dividends paid from January to March 1974. Companies will not, however, be required to pay over this additional sum before August.
