§ Mr. NottInformation is not available for the Department as a whole, but in the local offices of the Chief Inspector of Taxes' Branch, on 11th October 1973, some 392,000 items of correspondence, including inter-office memoranda, had been on hand for over 14 days. A similar total would be received in the Chief Inspector's Branch in two days from the public alone.
