§ Mr. David Priceasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he is able to take to prevent dark bellied Brent geese from Northern Russia wintering in the Maplin area should he be permitted by Parliament to build a third London airport in that area.
§ Mr. RipponThe Maplin Development Authority's reclamation work will directly or indirectly affect much of the eel grass on which the dark-bellied Brent geese feed at Maplin. The Natural Environment Research Council is carrying out a research programme into the behavioural and feeding patterns of the geese and into possible alternative habitats for them.
