§ Mr. Leadbitterasked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) if he will make a statement on the effect of the increases in the standard rate to be charged by colleges for industrial training courses as recommended by the Committee on Industrial Training of the Local Education Authority Associations in so far as they affect areas of high unemployment, training levels and employers' responses;
(2) What representations he has received on the effect of the new charges on industrial training courses in engineering, road transport, and construction carried out by colleges of further education in areas of high unemployment arising from the increases recommended by the Committee on Industrial Training; and what replies he has sent.
§ Mr. Chichester-ClarkThe Committee on Industrial Training of the Local Education Authority Associations discussed the effect of the new charges at a meeting on 10th October with representatives from the CBI and industrial training boards. I understand that the committee will be making a statement concerning the charges in the very near future.
