§ Mr. Brayasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what are the amounts by which the weekly incomes of the insured working population would be increased if all annual incomes in excess of £5,000, £4,000 and £3,000 were subjected to 100 per cent, taxation and the revenue therefore disbursed in this manner.
731W
§ Mr. Nott, pursuant to his reply [OFFICIL REPORT, 24th October 1973; Vol. 861, c. 533], gave the following information:—
If all annual incomes after tax were limited to £5,000, £4,000 and £3,000 respectively and the additional revenue distributed among the working population, the amounts by which weekly incomes per head would be increased would be £0.28—the approximate cost of a packet of cigarettes—£0.53 and £1.25.
