HL Deb 24 October 1973 vol 345 c736WA
LORD VERNON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What would be the saving in (a) financial cost, and (b) acres of agricultural land lost if the M.42 from Birmingham to Nottingham, instead of following the designated route via Stanton-by-Dale, were to follow the alternative and southerly Kegworth route.

BARONESS YOUNG

The Kegworth route, together with its associated works, would on present estimates be some 12 per cent. more expensive and would take some 15 per cent. more agricultural land than the published route.
