The proposal for an 8 per cent. increase in the guide price for cattle for the 1974–75 marketing year was made in March 1973 in the context of the initial proposals for the present marketing year. These were agreed in a modified form in May without any view being taken on the appropriate increase in the guide price for cattle next year.
