§ Mr. Ronald King Murrayasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has had about the exclusion of members of the nursing profession from area health boards in Scotland in contrast with England and Wales; whether he will reconsider this exclusion; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellI have received representations on this subject from members of the nursing profession498W and from hon. Members who have written on their behalf. As I have already made clear, I do not propose to appoint to health boards persons employed in the National Health Service who are in a management relationship with a chief officer. However, I have appointed a number of persons who have nursing experience in addition to other qualifications and I hope to be able to make further appointments of this kind when completing the membership of the boards.
