§ Mr. Peter ThomasA total grant of £684,000 was made by the Government to cover the cost of construction and subsequent extension of the National Sports Centre for Wales. The centre is administered by the Sports Council for Wales and the running costs are met by the body from its annual grant-in-aid.
§ Mr. Roderickasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the action he has taken, and proposes to take, to prevent discrimination against the users of the National Sports Centre in Cardiff on the grounds of either the colour or type of their clothing.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasThe rules governing the day-to-day use of the National Sports Centre are a matter for the Sports Council for Wales. From the inquiries I have made, however, I understand that it is the policy of the council that people using the centre should wear clothing appropriate to the activity in which they participate.
