§ Mr. Bishopasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is aware that some general practitioner principals in contract with local health executive councils interview the wives of partners to consider whether they are acceptable; and if he will inquire into this practice, in view of the policy of Her Majesty's Government with regard to sex discrimination.
§ Sir K. JosephIf general medical practitioners wish to make social or informal contacts before deciding on the acceptability of a new partner this is a private matter for them as independent practitioners, and neither I nor the executive councils with whom they are in contract have any right to intervene.
