asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will set out in tabular form the postal charges for first and second class inland letters current in 1950 and the subsequent increase, in each case indicating the percentage rise in the cost.

The following is the information:

the 312 persons employed 26 were legally qualified and none had accountant's qualifications.

The ways in which charities are encouraged to develop better methods of administration cannot be individually enumerated. This general function of the Commissioners is discharged in many aspects of their work including the performance of their more specific functions.

The annual reports made to the Secretary of State by the Commissioners and laid before Parliament contain full information on the way in which their duties are carried out. In particular, paragraphs 10 to 16 of the report for 1970 refers to the new general functions conferred on the Commissioners by the Charities Act 1960 and their performance.
