§ 42. Mr. Huntasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will issue a circular to local authorities drawing their attention to the increasing incursion of building societies, estate agents and other office users into predominantly shopping areas and recommending that a strict limit be placed upon planning permissions granted for such non-shopping uses.
§ Mr. Graham PageNo, Sir. Local planning authorities are responsible for the control of development in their areas and I am sure they are well able to take account of the need for such office businesses and of their suitability in shopping areas.
