§ Mr. John Wellsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he intends taking to reduce the use of lanes and unclassified roads by juggernauts and other heavy goods vehicles especially on those roads within 50 miles of the proposed Channel Tunnel.
§ Mr. RipponIt is for local authorities to take action under the wide powers they now have to prescribe through routes for heavy lorries and to keep them off roads where they would cause harm to amenity. It is expected that Channel Tunnel road traffic will be concentrated on the M20.
